Watch a film adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are and visit the traveling exhibit, here through February 24th. Sponsored by the Friends of the Moline Public Library.

In a Nutshell: The Worlds of Maurice Sendak was organized by the Rosenbach Museum & Library, Philadelphia, and developed by Nextbook, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Jewish literature, culture, and ideas, and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The national tour of the exhibit has been made possible by grants from the Charles H. Revson Foundation, the Righteous Persons Foundation, the David Berg Foundation, and an anonymous donor, with additional support from Tablet Magazine: A New Read on Jewish Life.

Event Title: Teen Reading Challenge

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to take part in the Quad City area-wide Teen Reading Challenge. Pick up a challenge log from your local library and keep track of how much you read between January 8 and January 28. Read 250 minutes to win a prize and an invitation to the Challenge Final Party on Friday, February 3. At 500, 750, and 1000 minutes get entered into drawings for more prizes. 1st of a five-part reading and discussion series, Lets Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War will be led by Dr. Stephen Warren, Professor of History, Augustana College. Works for the community to discuss the legacy of the American Civil War are the book March by Geraldine Brooks and a selection from Americas War: Talking About the Civil War and Emancipation on Their 150th Anniversaries, an anthology of historical fiction, speeches, diaries, memoirs, biographies, and short stories edited by Edward L. Ayers. Lets Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a reading and discussion series, has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Storyteller Brian Fox Ellis will take listeners back in time with true stories and legends to the bloody battlefields, gruesome field hospitals and haunted graveyards of America's Civil War.

Mr. Ellis will appear as Mathias Stritt, a German immigrant who was one of the first to enlist in Peoria Illinois and later marched with General Sherman as he burned Atlanta and marched to the sea.
