Frommer's Library Display Contest 2009

The Moline Public Library's theme for this year's Frommer's Library Display Contest was:

Frommer's Makes Travelin' Easy!

Traveling is definitely easy with Frommer's guides, no matter what mode of transportation you are inclined to use and wherever you want to go.

The Library's displays featured people using a variety of modes of transportation as well as a variety of Frommer's guide formats, such as portable print guides, hiking trip guides, and downloadable guides on their i-Pods.

Many patrons were delighted to learn they could download Frommer's guides to their i-Pods, i-Phones, Kindles, and Sony Readers. What could be easier than getting travel information delivered just the way you want it.

The Library staff created a train station complete with railroad signs and a ticket counter featuring train conductor, Arthur Frommer and tech-savvy commuter, Pauline Frommer, sporting her i-Pod.

Children visiting our Library really enjoyed the Frommer's Express Train and also participated in the Frommer's Adventure Hunt. To complete the hunt, children simply needed to search for all six Frommer's displays in the Library. Each finisher was rewarded with a small prize.

All of the display props were made from paper and cardboard and set up throughout the Library from August 19 - September 5, 2009.
